🗓️ After Your Tattoo Session
• Keep the adhesive bandage on for about 4 days. If your skin gets very red, irritated, or you’re sensitive to the adhesive, remove it sooner.
• It’s normal to see some ink, blood, and plasma pooled under the bandage in the first 12 hours. If the bandage leaks, remove it right away.
• After around 36 hours, the pooled fluids may dry and crust—this usually means it’s time to take the bandage off.
Removing the Bandage:
• Use clean, dry hands or remove it during/after a warm shower.
• Peel the bandage slowly downward, close to the skin (like removing a command strip) to avoid pain or skin damage.
Cleaning:
• Gently wash the tattoo with water or diluted unscented soap (I recommend Dr. Bronner’s unscented castile soap). Avoid strong water pressure; splash gently.
• Pat dry with paper towels and let air dry for 10 minutes.
⸻
🗓️ First Week After Removing Bandage
• Wash tattoo 1–2 times daily with water or diluted unscented soap.
• Pat dry, air dry, then apply a thin layer of unscented oilment.
• Don’t over-moisturize—let scabs form and flake naturally.
• Avoid Vaseline or petroleum-based products.
⸻
🗓️ Days 7 to 21
• Keep tattoo clean and dry; continue moisturizing once a day.
• Expect dryness, flaking, itching, redness—this is normal.
• Do NOT scratch or pick at scabs to avoid ink loss.
• Tattoo is healed when these symptoms disappear—then start using sunscreen on exposed areas.
⸻
🚨 Important Notes
• Avoid intense workouts and heavy sweating for at least a few days to support healing.
• No swimming, hot tubs, baths, or saunas until fully healed; showers are fine.
• Wear loose, breathable clothing to avoid irritation.
• Avoid direct sunlight for 2–3 weeks; no sunscreen during healing to protect tattoo color.
